Yikes...I always wanted a tongue piercing. Met a girl in college who took hers out b/c it was bruising the roof of her mouth. I got over my want for one then...since then I thought about it again, but uhm...reading the details of biting down on it??????? I guess it never occurred to me that it could happen. So much for a tongue ring!

For those that have bitten on their rings, did you get a shorter bar after the initial swelling went down? You're suppose to...

Going on 6 years for me and I have never bitten down on it. After the initial swelling went down I got a ring with a shorter bar. Basically so that when you open your mouth all you see if the bell (ball, jewel, whatever) and not the bar (long silver part). The initial barbell has to be long to compensate for the swelling but you can change it after maybe a month or two.

So to the OP, no I have not bitten down on it but I know others that have and once they changed the barbell they had no more problems.

I have had my tongue pierced on two different occasions. The first one I had for about 2 years and the second for about 1 year. I've bitten it before but never chipped my tooth. I took them out because I got tired of them.

i was seriously contemplating taking mine out because one week,...

I know what you mean about the acrylic balls. I have a gap and the chrome ones slip right through but those acrylic ones get caught and snatch my tongue. I can't forget their in my mouth either.

I rarely bite mine. Only when I get over zealous when eating. But I bite the inside of my mouth all the time. My face be like

I bought a retainer for mine during a career fair and it was too short. Do they have ways on knowing what length bar to get because I would like a shorter one. At the same time though, I enjoy twirling this long one around when I get bored in class. :P

I wanted to get one but I dont want people asking me why I got it or trying to imply something! And they seem so cliche now, I still kinda want one!

I have my tongue pierced... with the same bar they pierced it with over six years ago.
    Damage:
One permanent dent in roof of mouth
One small chip in the back of my teeth
    Two stalking ex-girlfriends (

.... not bad for over six years....

    Yep, yep...been there (i'm sawry)

I've chipped a tooth, swallowed a ball (not the whole bar)...I decided to get a shorter barbell and it helped a lot (especially with the dent in the roof of my mouth)...

I had to learn to be careful with chewing gum, lawd when it wraps around that barbell and you chomp down...it ain't nothin good!!
