    http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/forum_post...?TID=25093&PN=1

Now I'm all for long hair..................but it can't be that serious for a broad to rub Vick's Vapor Rub on her head for faster growth.

Maybe I'm an odd one out - but that actually made PERFECT sense - Vicks works my stimulating the blood flow - and if you stimulate the blood flow in your scalp, you very well may cause your hair to grow healtheir - isn't that why people suggest you do scalp massages, and drink plenty of water, so that the blood nourishing your hair is healthier? And if there is more blood flowing - well, it's certainly logical.

I don't know if I'd wanna go around smelling like menthol all day just for a couple of inches of hair - I'm not THAT impatient - but I wouldn't be suprised if it does work.

I was just thinking the same thing. It might feel kinda good on your scalp. Downside...who the heck wants to walk around smelling Vicks Vapo Rub.

Hmmm...I just had a random thought. Is Vicks short for Victor and if so, who the heck is Vick?

    Sorry

it may stimulate blood flow but it is NOT DESIGNED for the scalp. who knows what the side effects could be, ya know? scalp massages do the same and are safer. and yes the smell would something awful. i bet folks say "hrm, it smells like vapor rub in here?" when they'd walk into the room. lol

Oh, sure! It helps a lot in disguising the monkey ball sweat smell.

I'm using monistat. Monistat is soooo much better than monkey spit. My hair is gonna grow like a weed!

I will admit that I tried the Vicks stuff, for one day and didn't see the results I wanted. But my hair smelled almost good.

The monkey ball sweat thing might work for me though.(Fingers crossed)

Yeah yeah. Somebody will probably go out and get some but they'll be too ashamed to post that they did.

Really there is no need to walk around stanking. Just get a weave if it's that bad.

My grandma used that as a hair grease when I was younger and that stuff made my hair fall out, it's stinky too!

    I ain't scurred!

Naw, I didn't go buy vicks, but what I have done is made a spritz using white camphor eo. I love the way it makes my scalp tingle. And i don't have to smell that menthol or whatever it is that vicks has that makes your nose run.

Some black people will put anything in their hair. I know a lady who still to this day (even after showing her the replies to my post about her) uses Groomer's Mange. This is a product to treat mange in animals. But, believe it or not, her hair is much thicker. Go figure.

I heard cat pee restores the hairline.

as true as this statement is I am currently walking around spreading the stinch of the smelly 8. It really keeps me from having crazy flakes through out my fro.

If you have a suggestion for something less offensive let me know.

Ok, I know we're all making light of the fact that there are folks out there who seemingly will put anything on their hair and scalp, for what, to make their hair grow, even if the product isn't for that purpose. Since I've been an forum member, I've found out that people use Monistat, and now I'm hearing about Vic's Vapo Rub. Usually cause forum members report back what they've seen on other hair boards. I just went back and read a good piece of the thread on that other forum and the OP who started the thread was actually using it and reporting results back. Other people started saying how they were going to try it too. Quite frankly, I just shook my head at all the nonsense, it made my head hurt.

So my question is, would a thread of that nature even be allowed on forum? I hope not. I haven't run across anything on forum advocating those types of products. Is it because Molly don't play that? Or, because forum members are just more...more...I dunno...oh heck y'all fill in the blank cause I'm at a loss for a word here...more ___________________?

Guess I'm kinda naive cause I didn't know people resorted to using non-hair care products on their hair until I became a member of forum.

Wow.. I wasn't ready for that. Man, that's different.

I mean, I'd love for my hair to grow a lil more, but unfortunately God is my barber ^_^

exactly the reason i would not use it.

ppl the active ingredient is "menthol" which (if i'm not mistaken) comes from mint.
Since VICK'S is so expensive to buy nowadays, i've been using what instead?
Petroleum + peppermint EO. So the peppermint is a good inspiration, it's just that the petroleum is bad news.

Meh, vapo rub, monostat, hair grease, olive oil, whatever. If it works for her, more power to her. Course, if she goes bald, more power to the wig shop.

Hmm. wonder if wig and weave companies have thought to "anonymously" send out "hair tips" about stuff that is supposed to grow hair but really makes if fall out so more ppl will buy weaves and wigs to cover it up. It's so sneaky, it just might work.

Actually I heard that Crisco mixed with Donkey Azz Cheese works too...but you have to 'nert (annoint) ya forehead first - then werm (warm) it on a low fire before using it to the scalp.
