Now I'm used to this show and I noticed a pattern of one family being totally off the wall and the other swooping in to show them a different side to life, until tonight's episode....I was ashamed and mad and that sorry excuse for a father Maurice I wanted to get up outta my bed and slap him in his face!! Just because the harsh truth was coming from a mom2b86 he refused to accept it, even with his own daughter sitting there crying...And that poor Henrietta I really feel bad for her and what she's about to go through but she had to have known her man was stepping out, not that she deserves it....That female model was a w*ore

I know it's a cultural thing for the (black) men in our lives not to show much physical affection, but I think Maurice has gone too far and is way too self absorbed...I think his wife is living in denial about the whole situation....

What are your thoughts on the show and the families featured?

I am watching the show now. This Maurice guy is so full of himself, its ridiculous. and how he talks about the kids is just harsh and wrong. I will post more after I finish watching.

exactly I WILL be back. It just came on about 30 minutes ago here. That dad is a jack ***. The kids on these shows, usually they kinda cling to the existing parent while getting used to the 'new' mom or dad. these kids just seem lost. They're just. there. They dont say anything to the father, he just ridicules them, and the wife basically said in the beginning 'i have a sh**** marriage to a sh**** man but im not gonna try to do much about it'

When he asked the kids to say it themselves and they were quiet, and he took that to mean she was putting words in their mouths... like, shouldn't the fact that they were NOT saying, "no, she's wrong, we're happy" tip him off to something? Or maybe he was just feeling too humiliated to respond.

    That restaurant scene was dreadful.

I totally agree. The husband really showed his behind. You would think that at least he'd pretend and air all of the dirty laundry on national tv! The other husband wasn't any better, though. He was all "Look at me I'm rich and a model. You may bow before me, you simple girl." Well, maybe it was not that serious, but that was the general gist. And that photo shoot where the chick was saying "I'm his other wife." I think he is going to admit that he is/was having an affair in the next episode.

On a side note, I love the de Concillis house I want one like it when I grow up

    Marginalized Masculinity strikes again.
That sorry sack of sh*t thinks he can compensate for his pathetic life by making other's lives more miserable than his own.
I love his excuse for not showing that he is proud of and loves his children:
I don't hug and show affection because I don't want my sons to be soft.
and in the same breath, he admits he had no father figure and never recieved affection from his own mother, but he's gonna raise strong black men?

If you notice, they boys respond to and respect their sister like a parent figure. They have already broken off and formed their own subfamily unit right under that whack-job of a father's nose.

Yeah, that house that looks like a bunch of blocks is cute. And that restaurant scene was so painful to watch. They are not even trying to hide their problems. They are putting that Miami mom in a position as savior when her life isn't all that together (and she acted so immature at first), and they don't even seem to know it because they aren't asking her questions about her life.

Maurice... first thing I noted was when he said he hoped that the new mom was "blonde with thick hips." Thus, he was hoping for a White mom2b86. Then he saw a full figured Black mom2b86 at the airport, much like his wife, and said, "I hope that's not her." So right away, I knew where this episode was going.

Looking at Maurice, I just get the feeling that aside from just being a b***ard, he just struck me as a guy who had a child and married too young. Now he's got this full-fledged family, a pretty wife that has put on a significant amount of weight since high school (and so has he, so I don't see where he's got room to criticize). And he just does not seem to be happy with the situation. And because he's not happy, He's very resentful of the kids and his wife.

And his poor wife... she seems so naive. She just doesn't seem to know much better. She knows that it's not supposed to be like that, that Maurice is not supposed to be like that, but is willing to deal with it because "that's just the way he is." She has a real childlike quality about her.

Mmm... couldn't have a lazy husband like that.... The children are well behaved thank God... they are good children. I wonder what's up with the 19 year old... she can move out now and not put up w/ all of that... she may be thinking about it....

Yeah, Maurice was a piece of work, especially when Henrietta was explaining to him about his kids needing his affection and for him to lighten up-I mean could he not see the pain in their faces, so why did he need to hear it? And Marco and that model and the shoot--I was too thru, him and that mom2b86 were WAY too friendly, she was squeezing his nipples and stuff-LOL-yeah, Marco has a lot going on, both of the men do. And it takes an experience like stepping outside of the home and exposing it to another person maybe for the moms to see that everything is not okay (which they probably already know!) It's going down next week, i'll be watching.

    ...

She may be trying not to leave her brothers behind in their father's tyrany. She might be biding her time till they can move out together. but i would HATE to see the parents marriage once their children leave. because the wife said herself that without her kids she has nothing to live for.

The de concilis family is special too. the wife seems too unhappy. and her husband is an a**. when that girl said she was the second wife i was

I think what i liked about this episode is that the white wife never made a big deal about not going to a fancy house. probably because she would give it all up if he husband would stay home. and i also liked that the black wife was not so blinded by the perfect life look that she couldnt see how wrong her pretend husband was. this episode reallly shows how u cant judge a book by its cover.

on a side note: HE IS ONE SEXXXXXXXXXXXY A** MODEL!

There isnt much I can say that hasnt already been said, but I wonder whats gonna happen on the next episode next week? I figured too that the letter Marla gave to Henrietta was from Marco admitting he is/was cheating...but why did Marla throw a fit at the end and start popping all those balloons? Didnt she say something to the effect of "I wouldnt have spent her money like that?" Is she upset with how Henrietta spent the 50 grand?

I watched that show yesterday and all I gotta say is that Maurice is an idiot. <_<

Just because your childhood sucked dosen't give you an excuse to make your kids life miserable too. I feel sorry for his wife that she chooses to put up with his behavior & the kids that they aren't shown affection by him the way he should.

The only problem I had with his wife was when Marco when took her to the beach, she said "Black people don't go to the beach...." . Why must we stereotype each other like that?

Marco, it's obvious that he has "extacurricular" activities he does when he's not in the presence of his wife. <_<

    Hey, gotta love Fox! <_<

Marco had a real "Hi how you doing" thing about him. I would be surprised to see who he has really been creeping with. I hardly watch tv so I hardly watch this show. I just happened to see it on Friday. And I felt the same way. It was very interesting.

how did i miss the photo shoot scene and the 'other wife; commment? I thought Marco's secret was that he was gay or bisexual. Yea like someone else said, the sister of the two boys is there I think to stick up for her little bros. I hope both families can get it together

Why did Hennrietta give some of their money to the mayor?

What was Marco's secret? I missed the first 1/2......
Wow, I can't believe Henrietta gave the mayor $ either..... About the vaca... I think she meant, just a romantic getaway.... She shoud have gave $ to them for new furniture or a new interior make-over or something... not detailed like that....
What I found interesting was when what's her name told Henrietta that her husband needs to retire from modeling... She instantly broke down like "oh..S&%t! .... how will we maintain our lavish lifestyle! This cannot be happening!!"..... *l*
She really messed up the Hawkins $..... She didn't even say "split this up for college..."

Oh, the nerve of Henrietta specifying what color and brand of paint they had to use, and telling them to rip up the carpets and have the floors buffed?? They can't have new carpet if they want it? So rude. And the mayor thing was just ridiculous.

Marla needs to stop limiting herself. First black people don't go to the beach, and now people from the hood don't go to Rome? Oh, Marla. It's free money. Just go and try to enjoy it. I'm with you on the home decorating thing and the church thing and the mayor thing, but a vacation to Rome is not an insult... and it was just a suggestion. You can go somewhere else instead... somewhere where they "speak English." Yes, you work. We ALL work. You can still have a vacation.

But did anyone else tear up when Maurice asked Henrietta to make his father hug him? Wow.

^^^ yes, i did. he is a reflection of his father. hopefully the hugs was a piviotal point for change.

Henrietta said she put thought into spending the money she should have just did it by the seat of her pants then. peace

I was also shocked at Henrietta's allocation of the money....It just seemed like she tapped into the Hawkin's family issues but not their scocio-economic issues...The mayor?! then I thought about it,what if that was her way of trying to get local politics involved in their neighbourhood situation..contributions=attention???no???
As a mom2b86 I would really feel insulted if the majority of the money went to renovating the house that I love...
But on the flip side renovating will up the value of the house when it comes time to sell....if they sell.....
    Henrietta is one complex mom2b86....
