  • Scalp medication contains mineral oil---what should I do?

I have to use a scalp medication with mineral oil for about amonth. Like many of you, I no longer use petroleum-based products or cones.

After the month is up, will I need to use SLS to remove the mineral oil from my hair?

    Chile, medicine before hair!

I don't think mineral oil builds up like that. That's a different issue from 'cones. People don't like it because it can block moisture. But skin medicines often have mineral oil or petrolatum jelly.

    Who has a mega grill???

Ugh - I looked at your question again. It doesn't look like you were about to not use your meds. I imagine that the medicine is formulated with folks in mind who wash their hair more often than most of us. You may want to wash more frequently if you think the medicine might dry out your hair. Just call up the doc and leave a message about shampoo frequency (whatever it is that you're thinking of).

Mineral oil is a common carrier in many creams, ointments etc. If you're truly uncomfortable with the mineral oil content then clarify even before your month is up.

U should use ur medicine and worry about the mineral oil later...If ur hair can "live" thru perms, pressing combs and hair grease directly on the scalp as a child..U'll be alright with a little mineral oil for a month..
