  • No Underwear?

Hello ladies! For a while now, most days I do not wear underwear. It is not for easy access, I just always figured it was best to let 'her' breath. When I was younger I used to get yeast infections a lot, so I believe this is how I picked this up. My question is am I the only one who does this? Do you think this is a no-no?

I am curious because I have been doing it for a while and now am not so sure I should continue this practice. I might wear underwear or thongs once or twice during the week. My BF recently commented that maybe I should start wearing underwear now that we are getting more serious. (He actually asked me to marry him a year ago, but we have been having issues, so right now, he's my BF, not fiancee!)

    Any comments are welcome!

Yeah, that seems like an odd thing to say. Does he think not wearing underwear means you are open and available to any man who floats your boat?

    I don't wear them unless:

    1. I'm going shopping and will be trying on clothes.
    2. It's that time of the month.
    3. I'm wearing a dress/skirt (especially a short dress/skirt) with no pantyhose.

when my son was born 28 years ago, i was having a lot of yeast infections. my gyn told me to go without panties as much as i could so that she can "breath" well it worked, no problems since.
i don't like panties too much now.

i don't like the way it feels. i feel all naked and free but then again...i don't even like wearing skirts for the same reason. i've heard alot of pple say that wearing nothing IS better for your girl parts b/c it allows better air flow and less chafing/friction....i just can't get used to it

I don't wear them all the time either. I don't have any real reasons except that day I don't feel like putting them on.
I have noticed that when I wear tighter pants I don't wear them because I don't like thongs. I personally don't see anything wrong with not wearing them.
I also don't understand why your BF would suggest you wearing them more often. It's not like the world knows that you don't have any on.

If I went without undies, I wouldn't feel right about wearing my jeans multiple times before washing them....

    what about moisture?

i think cotton underwear are practical in that they 1. absorb natural moisture before it gets on your jeans, pants, skirts, etc., and 2. act as a barrier, preventing bacteria from your bottom from getting on your clothing. (we discussed this in the thong topic, that no matter how thoroughly you wipe yourself, you can't keep the perineal and anal areas free from bacteria.)

so do you wash your pants/skirts after each wear?

panties are okay, an absolutely necessary when "the painters in" but on a day to day I don't prefer them.

Yeah, I feel funny not wearing underwear to sleep in, so I know I'll feel a lil' exposed not wearing any at all. I don't knock anyone who does. It would feel weird to me, though.

Unless itàƒ¢â‚¬â„¢s dripping down your legs, your labia (major and minor) should prevent any significant moisture from escaping. If you secrete more during a particular time of month, wear some panties and throw in a liner. I doubt someone would go commando if they had that issue.

As for your clothing, I donàƒ¢â‚¬â„¢t see a problem. Itàƒ¢â‚¬â„¢s not as though the clothing gets caught in the crack of oneàƒ¢â‚¬â„¢s behind. If a person is into really tight clothing then I would see the concern but considering that most of time jeans or pants are not worn more than 3-4 times before being thrown in the wash I think itàƒ¢â‚¬â„¢s okay àƒ¢â‚¬âœ especially considering going commando may not involve the same pair of jeans each time during the course of the 3 or 4 times they are worn before hitting the wash.

No surface on your body is free from bacteria.

Ok, I loved thongs, until I became pregnant. Thongs were not cute when they are rubbing the crack of your booty raw. So I stopped. I was naked most of the time when I was pregnant anyway. (At home that is) Don't worry. I learned from my days dancing to place a towel on the surface before sitting. I loved my days of not wearing underwear. Besides, I have less infections.

I have a box full of thongs and only wear them when it is that time of the month. As for any secretions, I go to the bathroom and freshen up. It is always good to clean the area anyway. With mild soap and water of course.

I especially love to go bare when I am wearing shirts and dresses. I am able to let Ms. Miss do her thing when I open my legs. I put the skirt between my legs and that allows for some ventilation.

I just read in Essence that women should go bare sometimes. Especially at night.

Man there certainly are a lot of discussions about the va jay jay this week

But to anwer the question. I don't have a problem with going commando on occasion. I've done it on occasions where clothing was extra clingy and b/c I started having serious issues with thongs in the last two years I really tried to stop using them so that was the only other alternative. I really didn't mind it. It's not something I would do everyday mind you but some situations do call for it for me.

If I do opt to do this then that item of clothing can only be worn once and is thrown into the laundry after usage. Especially pants b/c we obviously wear panties for various reasons one of them being so that we are able to wear our pants and skirts more than once without having to wash them.

I only wear panties a few times a month. Guys think it's hot. I don't see the big deal. Guys say it's hot b/c it allows "easy access." Whatever. I dont wear them cuz I dont find them comfotable.

This is timely for me because I've just stopped wearing underwear (or at least opted for baggy shorts) around the house.

However, I don't think I can go without under certain clothing because sometimes the seams in some pants can be....unforgiving.

wear underwear most of the time but sometimes "it does feel good to let the breeze come in when you're outside with a skirt or dress" LOL!! It's very liberating.I can't stand being free w/ jeans tho.

Wow, I never knew there were so many women who didn't wear underwear. I thought that was mostly a guy thing.

I will go without undies if it is warm out and I am wearing a skirt. I am not comfortable without panties in jeans. I do not sleep in panties and usually don't wear them while at home or walking my dog in my sweats.

I always wear underwear when I'm out. I don't sleep in them at night, that's the only time.

I think that tight fitting clothes (including underwear and especially thongs) is why women in general are having more gyn issues. Though I love cotton clothes for their comfort, cotton absorbs and HOLDS moisture which becomes creates breeding haven for bacteria. Think about it. That's why athletes don't wear cotton. It gets and stays damp for long periods of time, especially in hot spots like between the legs, underneath the arms, etc.

That being said, I've worn panties less and less as I've gotten older and most of my feminine issues have similarly decreased. I do still wear them with some pants as the seams can be bothersome. I've become quite a fan of the long skirt/dress. I haven't worn panties to bed since HS except for during menses in the days when I wore maxipads. Since my Diva Cup discovery, I no longer even do that. And I will wear special ones during long hikes. The newer synthetic materials are actually made to "wick" moisture (ie. pull the moisture from your body) into the air where it can evaporate. So they keep your body drier and cooler and less likely to develop a bacteria problem.

And, yes, that means wearing some clothing items only once before laundering.

I typically wear them for every day life. But as we type, I'm not because I'm on my way to a formal event. When I'm wearing pantyhose, I typically skip panties. I also skip them while working out.

i have a question for those of you that go bare often.....whenever i've ventured out there and tried it, besides being uncomfortable...i also have the problem of keeping my clothing (pants & shorts since i rarely wear skirts) from inching into my butt crack. how do you keep your clothes from doing that....or am i alone in this?
are you wearing something else underneath??

timely for me too! (<span style=\"color:#3366FF\">isn't it crazy how that works??!

    )
this is crazy! i just started to not wear panties when i sleep.
Sometimes, after i take a night shower, i just wanna stay as fresh so i don't put any on.
But man, i've alllllllways wanted to be free, didn't know so many ppl did it.

most of the time, if all my laundry was getting cleaned, i'd just wear a thiiin long-johnish pants and put a liner there since i don't like the idea of my woohoo © being right there. Works for me, and i find out that i don't even touch the liner, as opposed to panties.

    yep.
i'm going back to the pantilessness roots of my foremothers!!!!

    i slay me sometimes.

It's nasty not to wear them. Women have discharge. If a woman doesn't wear them I automatically think she and her clothes are gross.

i say rock on and enjoy....

I think that's skanky. Please, I'm sure there are kids around.

What the hell do kids have to do with someone not wearing underwear?
