  • Looking For Loctician In San Jose, Costa Rica

I'm going to Costa Rica for two weeks in a week and wanna know if anyone knows of a loctician out there (or knows someone who knows). Please post if you do. I'm trying to go prepared in case something happens.

    Thanks!!!

might not find much luck with locticians in San Jose, CR... you're best bet if you take the bus to Limon, Costa Rica- the caribbean side of Costa Rica ...but, thats a good 5-7 hour bus ride. And, that is if there are any locticians in Limon.

thanks for the info. I plan on going to get my hair done before I leave and hope that nothing happens while I'm there that I can't take care of myself. I'm staying with a host family and don't want to use up their water. I'll hope that someone can kick a referral my way.

I plan on visiting Limon. If push comes to shove, I'll do what I have to do and wash and wear (or bring some JML product with me...and some clips).

    You're welcome...
You're hair should be fine for two weeks with no re-twisting. It's HOT as H! in CR, so just take it easy..bring some scarves to change up your look if you want.

Thanks for that info...folks are telling me that it's only in the 80's over there (folks who haven't been there in a while). I'm looking through my wardrobe and trying to figure out what to buy....didn't run around much this summer, so I'll need to get some more shorts and sandals before they're all gone... it's hot over there in September?

September is not a rainy season, but expect some rainfalls.

Just got back from Costa Rica.... Loved every minute of it. My hair stood up well....I found the place in Limon where you can get locs maintained (though I didn't go in). Took a 4 hour cab ride to Limon and stayed in or near Cocles...15-minute walk from Puerto Viejo central. Loved every minute of Limon and Costa Rica in general.

oh really?, how much did they charge?
you saw a lot of men with locks over there right?...-damn, I Love that place. My parents are getting ready to go there next week, and they're staying with the family.. I wish I could go now.

I don't know...they were closed when I noticed them...it was at night as I was walking through PV central with a friend. It's a braid/loc shop near the center of town. That place is silent during the day (which was fine by me...nothing to keep me from hearing the waves in el Mar de Caribe). At night, it's a whole other story. Loved every minute of it.

Saw folks with locs, but not that many. Figured I'd play it safe and bring my gel and clips with me if something happened while there.

I'm jealous when I hear people say they're going over there because the place is so beautiful. Parents going to study Spanish. That's what I just did too. My host family was great. Sneak into their suitcase if you can.

even better...you can go whenever you want and have a place to stay. Since I bonded with my host family, esp. my host sister, I know I'll have contacts in Costa Rica. I hope they have a safe trip.
