  • Librarian Accuses Harvard Of Discrimination

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7259979/. This story interests me so much because of the color issue and the clothing issue. The allegation of racism definitely hits close to home for many of us, but in this instance, I'm stuck on the whole issue of how she claims that she was labelled "as a pretty girl who wore sexy outfits, low cut blouses, and tight pants.❠I know for a fact that the way you dress can greatly affect the perception your colleagues have of you. And once you have a certain reputation in the office, it can be almost impossible to change it. I would like to know what you all think about this article but also the whole issue of how people can damage their careers by the way they present themselves.

I can definitely see how she could be unfairly regarded for her attire. From her pic, it looks like she probably has a naturally curvaceous body. A lot of sistas run into this problem. Sometimes, it doesn't matter what you wear, you're booty will still be BIG. Some women (especially black women) are unable to down play their curves, no matter what they wear. The clothes won't fit a white woman the same way.

This woman also supposedly changed her work attire to something more conservative, but it didn't matter.

Bottom line, if her supervisor's comment is true, it wouldn't have matter WHAT she was wearing.

What I am about to type isn't the best thing, and may speak to a bigger issue I have within myself, but....

Why is it that I looked at her left hand to see if she was married??!!

    I have no idea AgentDime.

I know what you mean about the bodies. Sometimes there is nothing that one can do apart from wearing baggy clothes that will disguise a curvaceous body. Also how many rejections does she need to get before she knows that it is time to resign. I don't think I would have stuck around for that long if i just kept on getting rejections for jobs. Plus I feel sad that just because a lady is sexy or wears nice clohes that automatically means she may not be capable of doing a good job

I would like to follow this case, 'cause I'm studying to be a librarian, too. Though, we can't hide the booty and in my case the boobies, 19 positions is 19 positions. I think that she obviously has a case, how strong I don't know. But I'm a little surprised that a place like Harvard would higher anybody just be educated eye candy. I don't know. I like to see what happens.
