  • Lazy Transitioner

I hate doing my own hair and I can't stand the pain of getting braids so my transition style is gonna be a bun. Just wash my hair once a week, pull it in a bun and touch it up with some gel if needed, which I probably won't since I'm gonna tie it down w/ a silk scarf every night. That's how my natural hair got so long in middle school cuz i never fooled with it, jus threw it in a bun and was done for the week. btw, if anyone cares i'm 17 and this is my 2nd and final transition. The first one only lasted 3 months, but this time i'm for sure going to go natural. I get sick of barely touching my hair and ending up with enough hair in my hands for a wig ( at least that's what it seems like).

DOES THAT NOT CAUSE YOUR HAIR TO BREAK OFF? YOUR EDGES?

I heard of people going about it this way. I say, if it works for you than go ahead. Make sure to keep it moisturized.

i've changed my mind already. Would it be ok for me to no-'poo every day even tho i'm not fully natural?

I would so its ok to no-poo everyday because I'm transitioning and I no-poo and its made my hair more managble and super soft and moisturized.

You can no-poo as little or as much as needed, just make sure you clarify frequently to avoid build-up. make sure though that you find time to do it, and it fits with you and how your hair reacts to it (the new natural hair). The only drawback you might encounter is that you will spend more on conditioner than anything else , so go for a cheap alternative.

I know some might disagree, but I don't know if it's a good idea to wear a bun every single day. That could cause your hair to break off in the back. I had to learn this the hard way. Plus, as your roots grow out, it will probably become more difficult to maintain a bun.

I, too, and am lazy transitioner. I definitely understand how you feel. I usually wear twists or box braids if I want a long-term style. Braidouts are also an easy, low-maintenance style.

    HTH some.

i'm definitely going to no-poo everyday but i'm not real sure how I want to style it. i can't put it in a ponytail because my relaxed hair poofs up when it dries and i don't wanna put it in a bun cuz that makes my hairline hurt (lol i know that sounds weird, but yea i had second thoughts about the bun). I'm thinking i might use my rosemary/olive oil spritz, put a little gel on it, twist it up and clip it with a claw clip. how does that sound?
