  • just tried a shampoo bar...

I love Chagrin Valley soaps. I always have to have Cafe Moreno, and Coconut Milk Shampoo Bars; and Aloe! Aloe! Aloe!, Castile & Calendula Baby, & Shea Rose Clay soaps on hand. I have tried quite a few sample bars but so far these are my favorites; they do not irritate or dry out my skin and locs.

Oooooh! Glad this thread came up. I have been using Chargrin Valley Soaps for about 9 months now and love their shampoo bars. My favorite is Cafe Moreno, but I am going to have to try the Coconut Milk shampoo bar becasue of all the rave reviews.

I have tried the butter bar. I really like it. Not stripping and leaves my babies clean and soft.

A big thank you to the person that started this thread! I ordered a sample size of the Ayurvedic bar and Carrot Milk and Honey. I've used the Ayurvedic bar twice and I absolutely love the way my hair feels after I use it. I love my Giovanni's, but this might be its replacement. I still can't get over how only a few swipes down my hair gets it sudsy. (Using a shampoo bar never tempted me because I didn't think it would be able to handle a head full of locs--I was wrong)

As for going to Lush for a shampoo bar, as a former employee, I can definitely say it is not meant for Afro-American hair. It does have good ingredients, but it has the dreaded SLS as one of the top ingredient.
