  • Is The Cdc Handling Their Bidness! Will Lgv Kill Us Like Hiv?

Well it's not new. LGV (Lymphogranuloma venereum) sexually transmitted disease caused by a type of Chlamydia that rarely occurs in the United States and other industrialized countries.

Some European countries have reported increases in LGV proctitis among men who have sex with men (MSM). This caught my attention back in 2004 when a few cases popped up in NYC and I think Cali.....I'm not sure so I'll have to check later.

To break down how LGV kills you (from what I heard); untreated LGV attacks the lower GI track. It spreads upwards & causes lesions that eat away at the intestines; quickly leading to death due to internal bleeding.

Anyway, what I don't agree with is how the CDC is handling this.

It appears to me that they are relating this, AGAIN, strictly to gay men. Did we not learn from HIV???

For those that are too young to remember or uninformed: when HIV first was identified back in the 80's it was coined it as a gay men's disease. I think the reason being is because HIV is transferred more easily through anal sex. So of course docs itàƒ¢â‚¬â„¢s going to spread faster among a set of the population engaging in an activity that puts them at greater risk, but they shouldn't ignore the rest of the population.

They should address the fact that there are women who engage in anal sex too. I wonder how many straight men & women in the US are going to the doc with proctocolitis that are being misdiagnosed as having IBS or IBD (irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease) that could possibly be carrying this LGV sh*t.

Wow, that's scary. I know I was happy when those public service announcements finally came out about hpv and cervical cancer.
