That style is hot! I'd rock it in a heartbeat. I'm growing my hair out just so I can wear a fro like hers.

India's hair is fine àƒ¢â‚¬â it's gorgeous. It's not a do for corporate America, but it's definitely appropriate and glorious for the Grammys.

I liked it, but probably because that's the way my hair looks sometimes. I agree that it isn't for coporate, but what natural hairstyle is appropriate for corporate? The only natural hairstyle I know to be OK for corporate are the naturally curly ones, like Joan Clayton. Braids, locs, double strand twists, twist out, coils, etc. is generally not "appropriate" for the corporate world. Why aren't they? I find it odd to be ostracized for sporting a natural hair, than praised for faking it with a perm or weave.

^ she could wear that in corporate america. that would work at my company.

i thought her hair was cute

i do have nappy guilt, like the op. you wanna give props to all nappies, regardless of hair style

somethin tells me that's not all hers. but that's ok. she was doing a diana ross

i thought her hair was cutei do have nappy guilt,...

It might work at your company, but at many companies, it would not work àƒ¢â‚¬â and the same would apply to a white girl, with "wild chile" hair. It depends on the company.

I didn't see her. But looking at the pic, it's cute to me. Man her hair grows FAST, she had a fade less than a year ago when I saw her perform.

ETA: oops I see it's not all her hair, I was thinking it just could not grow that fast

I thought she lookeed good and happy. I liked the hairstyle. Of course, while watching the showed I wondered if that was her hair...I thought I saw little braids when they did a close up on her. Whatever it is, I like it. And those earrings are the bomb!!!

    I'd have to disagree.

I thought India's hair was GORGEOUS last night. Instead of nappy guilt I felt some pride that she was rockin' the blow out on the red carpet.

I've had a lot of permies comment that my hair "looks wild" ... but then again, it is what it is. Not everyone can have a perfectly round coily fro 100% of the time. Sometimes you just have to go with the 'fro!

    (at least in IMHO)

I have to agree. I thouht her hair was bad (in a good way). She looked great even though I knew she wouldn't win.

I don't like India, but that style is hot. I wear my hair like that all the time. " Guilt?" wtf?!?!?!?!

I love that syle! In fact I was just rocking something like that this weekend!

Anybody else think she's sporting some type of funky wig...

    I don't.

I juist think she's been using plenty of monkey saliva and bull's semen.

I don't think it was one of her better looks.

    ...

Let me clarify what I mean by Guilt. I guess the better word to use is Responsibility. The responsibility to defend nappies regardless of if I like their hairstyle or not. I'm not sure how many of you actually saw the grammy's but India's hair did not look as "polished" as it does in that pic. There were a lot of fly aways and strangly strands. It's not the style I didn't like.. it was the execution. In my opinion it couldve been a little more manicured with less long fly aways. Just my opinion.

BTW, I thought Beyonce and J. Hudsons weaves were very tacky but I addressed India only b/c of this being a nappy forum. Hopefully I didnt offend anyone.

does anybody have pics of her hair close-up? I know some people said she had little braids. If thats the case, it's probably the same hair braiders use for kinky twists

I agree with the OP none of it worked for me... especially considering this is the Grammyàƒ¢â‚¬â„¢s, not MTV awards or the American Music Awards.

The Grammyàƒ¢â‚¬â„¢s are music Oscars... and so while it is more causal than the Oscars this wasnàƒ¢â‚¬â„¢t appropriate.

I have worn my hair like this... but not to a formal event. It's not about dissing the nappy its about being on point.

I could see her wearing this look to maybe a performance at one of her shows... but I still think that the make-up and the dress are lacking (ugly)

Nothing about this worked for the Grammy's not the hair, the make-up, the dress or the accessories... if India was a permie in she would get OWNED.

All I could say is what happened 2006 she was APPROPRIATE in all her nappy glory in this beautiful dress her mom designed note that EVERYTHING is on point hair, make-up, dress, accessories.

When you compare the two side by side the obvious is glaring.~W

I forgot about her gown last year. She looked absolutely beautiful.

I agree and thanks for bringing that pic back. With reference to style and only style (not texture), is it not possible for a nappy to have a bad hair day?? Actually let me rephrase, is it possible for us--living during a time when natural hair is not accepted and we constantly have to defend ourselves--to acknowledge when someone rocks a nappy hair do styled in a way that just aint cutting it? We seem to have no problem when the hair is straight.

I'm just curious because it's like when I'm trying on a dress or something and I'm not too sure about it, and you ask a friend who's like "yes, you look wonderful" but deep down you wonder if they're telling you the truth or if they're too afraid/blinded because you're a friend. But then you have those friends who you can rely on who will tell you the truth no matter what. They understand their criticism isn't dissing you, but that particular dress or style on you. Ok, I'm now rambling on.....but what do you think?

I loved her hair, her makeup and her outfit. She was radiating her strong Ochun energy last night!

What's wrong with her hair? I was expecting to see 3 huge baby puffs or something, lol. I love it. That's how my hair looks when I wash and let it air dry unmanipulated. And yes, I have worn my hair like that outside. It's a free-form fro, right?

ETA: I just want to add that I really don't think that's her hair either. It took me 3.5 years to get to this point. If it is her hair, it must grow at a rate of 1 inch per month. Regardless, it looks great!!!

At first glance, I was like, huh, but whenever I see someone rock a 'wild' natural hair style who doesn't have much definition I ask myself, 'would you think it was hot if it had more definition?' This shuts me up will quick and makes me reconsider. It makes me fight against what has been ingrained in me to think that those with curly, wavy hair are the ones who can get away with rocking 'wild' hair styles. I STILL have to check myself. I wonder when it will end.

Also, is this India's real hair? Dang, if it is, lil mama's hair grows too fast! Just last year at the BET awards she was shaved bald!

I have to admit it took me a sec to get used to it. At first I was like whoa! But then I decided I liked it. Will probably try to rock it myself with a few minor adjustments.
