  • How Long Does Yours Last?

how long does your braids/twists last? so far mine last for a week. after that the amount of 'growth' or fuzzies is to much to handle! plus it starts to wear out after that.

I think it really just depends on how much you accept frizz. Usually the ones that don't, wear theirs two weeks or less. They'll last as long as you want them to, but many don't like how they look after a while. For me, I keep my braids in for two months. In the past, I've been known to keep my twists for a month. For me, they still look good, if not better with time. And people are going to mistake them for locs anyways, so there's not too much I could do about frizz even if I wanted to. But they always say they're good looking locs or that I pull that look off well, so hey..

My hairs when twists can only stretch the longest is 2 wks sometimes a week and a half, but thats about it. The frizz is really uncontrolling.

Frizz is my friend and I'm too lazy to take styles down once their in....so, my twists can last up to 4 weeks and my braids have lasted almost 10. There can be a carpet growing underneath my twists/braids and I still won't take them down until I'm good and ready.

I think I'm a bit too fuzz friendly but my twists w/o extensions only last 2 weeks though I try and stretch it. For me, it's a itchy scalp issue.

My twists last for 2wks max. I don't mind the fuzz, but any longer than that and the hair get really tangled and the shed hair reaks havoc. If I left min in for a month I would probably have to shave my head. Taking the twists out wouldn't be an option.

If I don't have the itchies on my scalp, I do let my twists stay in for about 2 weeks. I could care less about the frizzies. My life is getting busier, so I don't have the same amount of time to devote to doing my hair, so, the longer that they can stay, the longer I would let them.

Mine last 4-6 weeks cuz I don't mind if my twists aren't brand new and are a little fuzzy. I think fuzzy is cute. My braids can last up to 2 months.

Even with fresh twists in folks will assume/confuse them for locs. LOL I had someone do that last night

    Me: *Just strolling through Wal-Mart*
    Black man: Hey Nubian princess!
Me: *tries to ignore/run away. Dont' wanna talk tonite*
Black man: Hello. Are you aware of the spirituality of your locs
Me: Umm, these are twists, not locs...
Black man: Oh! *looks very confused*

When I use to wear twists they would last for about 2 weeks. If I went beyond that they would literally try to lock! I had to literally pull them away..... :-)

I just twisted my hair last night. I will be swimming this weekend so maybe they will last more than a week.

Ah, yes... the random pseudo-conscious brother.

I kept my last twists in for almost three weeks. I rinsed/washed them a few times, redid them and wore a twist-out over that time. I gently put them "back together" every night that I wore a twist-out so they never had a chance to get frizzy.

I've had my hair in small braids for a week now and they're just getting started. I wear my braids for at least a month and my record is 6 weeks. Maybe I'll beat it this time. I don't mind the loc-like look at all.

Usually my twists only last 1 week, but this time, I'm trying to "embrace the frizz" and leave them in for 3 weeks. Only 2 weeks to go!!

Note: for me, no manipulation for the twists is best, no greg juice, no moisturizer every day -- just let the shower wake them up and moisturize as needed. So far, so good. I may rinse them -- I'll see.

I love frizz...I can leave my twists in for at least 4 weeks....after that the hand in fro disease becomes to unbearable and I have to take my hair down so I can run my fingers through my hair.....if I can control myself I could go a lot longer because my hair would take forever to loc but I just start missing my loose hair too much!

LOl. I can relate. I don't mind frizz and I am too lazy as well. My braids never lasted 10 months though. I can get 3 to 4 weeks out of twists or cornrows.

mine does too, when i untangle i find that parts of my hair are already lose.

how do you guys keep your braids/twists in tact after washing/shampooing/conditioning them? after one time of washing them half of them come undone for me.

^I dunno, they just do. I think it just depends on your hair. But after I wash twists and then try to take them apart? It's a nightmare because they really don't wanna come apart. But with braids, I don't have that problem. They stay and don't tangle.
