How Come We Don't Have Pretty Hair? |
Whoa! |

Scalp burns are NOT pretty. Neither are receding hairlines, split ends, bald spots, glue-in weaves, and those high, hard gelled up 'dos. |

Today would have been the perfect opportunity...she was cleaning out her purse and found a business card of a hair stylist (who applies the creamy crack) and she was like "I won't go back there, she didn't make my hair straight, I hate nappyhair".... |

Dang... Do you have to hang out with this chick? She makes little snide remarks a little too much for my liking. Cut her loose! |

Well, we work in the same place so cutting her loose isn't so much an option ) All I can do is enlighten her when she gets out of hand, but I'm not going to keep talking to the wall. When she starts giving her opinion on my hair, I tell her I don't take hair requests. |

Ditto. We support God's vision for our hair by wearing it natural. |

just wanted to say, i think the reason whites appear so positive is not because they truly want nappy hair (they are not that skilled at hairstyling) but because the burden of nappy hair falls in our laps as black people. racism was meant to disturb, frighten, freak out, and upset US so of course WE'RE the ones with issues that we need to overcome. they're sittin "pretty" so to speak. just to clarify: if you offered to give them a nappy textured afro weave they could wear for a month would they be happy and excited and say yes? how many white folks you know wear afro wigs just because or for special occasions to be cute and trendy? carry on... |
