  • Highlighting A Twa

I have a 1" twa that I would like to highlight. I do not want to dye all of my hair one color, but just would like a few bright spots, i.e. highlights. How does one highlight a twa? Can I pull my naps through one of those foil caps and would it come out right? I don't have any stylist that I would trust to do it for me. The last place I went to suggested a texturizer and I am trying to stay nappy this time. Any advice?

When I had a twa, Sally's had this sort of temporary color it had a pudding consistency and it came in a little 2-4 oz jar. I would rub some on my hands and pat my hair lightly with the bronze color and it had the same effects of highlighting. The only down side is that it rubbed off on every things so I had to wash my hair every night. I had it in purple, red and blue. I loved them. After my hair grew past 3-4 inches it wasn' t that practical anymore.

That's a good question cause I have a little fro, I'd like to color myself. But I don't want to color my whole head because I like my current natural hair color. I just want to brighten it a little right in time for summer. I've been looking at that Loreal Color Expert thing. A friend of mine, colored her hair with one and the results were nice. I'm not that brave though. I'm going to consult my stylist about adding some color to my fro. Lemme know how you make out find a colorist.

Kwame was the infamous polka dot rapper back in the day who was known for his polka dot clothes and his blond patch/spot

    polka dots ? blah

what i did to put the colour in the tips of my fingers and started from the front of my hair and went back (with my fingers in like a pinching position) .. so it would seem as if you are doing stripes all the way back
about 7 mins before i washed it out , I applied some all over the back ... so that the stripes would not be defined... now my hair looks naturally highlighted

I would suggest using one of those caps. Just make sure it is tight to the head so you can pull as much of the hair strand as possible through it. If it's too loose your highlights will only appear on the ends of your hair and that will be too obvious when it grows out.

Have you considered braiding your hair or blow drying it so that it's not as curly? That way you ensure the ends are as close to the cap as possible.
