  • Hello From Monterey

Hello all my name is Theresa and i'm a 24 yo SAHM of 3 beautiful children and married to my best friend, high school sweet hear and brave soldier for 4 years. I'm in tranisition learned that today. I've been looking for something just like this and i'm soooo happy to have found this site you have no idea. I'm due for a chemical fire cream now which i'm not getting since i've found this site. I don't want to put chemicals in my hair for one i'm all about natural products in my house and on my person and i do all that i can to stick them in my body. I felt like such a hyprocrite because i'm in a business where everything i use is good for me and the enviorment and my body but i'm using chemicals on my head which houses my brain and everything that i have researched says thats just not right. But having the typical bringing up that your supposed to get your hair permed thing has been plaguing me. My mom thinks i'm crazy and my husband is like do whatever as long as it looks good so anyways i'm going to do what i want and i'm going natural but i don't want to cut it all off for one my head is huge and i would like i had basketball sittin on the top of my neck. i have what i call a clock face lol. So anyways i wondering HOW do i do the transition styles like the braid out, roller set and any others i can do? Thanks so much for all of the advice

Hi there! My parents live in Corral de Tierra, which is halfway between Monterey and Salinas...I spend just about every weekend down there . Congratulations on your decision! You'll find lots of information about transitional styles here. I transitioned accidentally with microbraids for three years, so I didn't have the experience of having to style the two different textures. But there's lots of experts here. I'd start by reading the pinned threads at site-mission-prior-to-joining\" class=\"hrln\">the top of the forum. And welcome to forum!

You can add braids, twists and a lot of transition styles. I am wearing protective styles, like a buns and head wraps. But more and more I am becoming convinced that if I can wear a ponytail or bun I can wear a TWA. I'm just working on building up the nerve to cut.

Welcome to the site and good luck with your transition. There are lots of styles for you to try as you transition and you can do that for as long as you like. Just browse and search the site and also member hair albums for tips and things. When I transitioned I wore a roller/rod set in a variety of updos and with scarves and things. You can see pics in my album. Good luck and welcome again.

Welcome to the site and congrats on your decision to transition! I'm also transitioning ( over 2 months) and I currently have micro braids. I have also transitioned with braid outs and puffs. There are many styles that you can do and you can get many ideas from just surfing the site. Experimenting I believe is the key to finding out which styles suit you best.

I understand if you don't want to cut all of you hair off now, I'm growing out my hair also but I have learned that no one looks funny with their hair short. I think you'll see that browsing through pictures of members who have bc'd.

    Good luck with your journey
