  • Hair growth?

Hi! I am 2 months new to this site, and 2 days old to my "Big Chop". I haven't fully embraced it as yet. I have been really sick the last few days. But yesterday i decided to fuss around with my "new do" and put my makeup on to see how i would look.............................. I LOVED IT!!!!!!!

Now, here is my situation. I noticed on the sides of my head looks kinda space-y. I've browsed around this site and saw that a few people suffered what i think i am suffering now. I think it's alopecia. (yikes!!!!) Probably due to stress, braiding (while i was transitioning) and that awful creamy crack in the past!

Anyone have any suggestions on what i can do and what i can use to get some growth and gain some strength in those areas?

    Hi Chyna,

First, avoid products that can clog your hair follicles. Use fixed or essential oils that have regenerative and anti-inflammatory properties. Avoid products containing mineral oil and shampoos containing sulfates which are skin irritants. Finally, be very gentle with your hair, especially the edges. Don't wear styles that cause traction and avoid rough combing or brushing. Also, take a look at Alma's topic here on Ayurvedic remedies for hair loss and growth.

    Good luck!

Also, massage your temples to encourage blood flow and hence growth in the temple area.

Thank you Qhemet and seek first for your advise. I will take that into consideration along with one or two other things.

I've seen this mix several places. I haven't tried it yet but I plan on making it soon for my edges. Other ppl have said they've gotten good results with it

Essential Oil Blend for Hair Growth

    1. Thyme essential oil - 2 drops
    2. Atlas cedarwood essential oil - 2 drops
    3. Lavender essential oil -3 drops
    4. Rosemary essential oil -3 drops
    5. Jojoba oil - à‚½ teaspoon
    6. Grapeseed oil - 4 teaspoons

Add the first four ingredients into a small glass jar. Mix well. Now add the remaining two ingredients. Mix thoroughly.

Massage this mixture into your scalp for at least two minutes every night. Wrap your head in a warm towel after treatment.

I've seen this mix several places. I haven't tried it...

Out of those six ingredients...three of them are in my Lavender Rosemary Spritz that I make (lavender & rosemary EOs and jojoba oil--castor oil is the other oil I use instead of Grapeseed)...along with ingredients that help capture moisture while giving a nice sheen to your hair (glycerin and honey)...

Hey, what about that rosemary mint spray by aura? Has anyone tried it with success in growth?

There was anoter thread where someone was experiencing the same problem as you check out some of tips posted there it may just help.

    Subject = I can't stand my hair...."

Subject = "So you want to use herbs" - a tiny list of herbs and essential oils that are both beneficial to hair growth & cellular construction.
Look down towards the bottom of the page for the list.

Herb & EO Hair & Skin Ref.

One of my favourite hair growth essential oils is in the list, Ylang ylang.

Will try your spritz recipe but I have a question does the combo actually spritz out of the spray bottles?
Or are the oils too heavy...?
Many thanks for sharing your this growth recipe with us all.

.....and one more I found on the net:
Patchouli adds a deep, earthy fragrance to hair care blends....

The above may be best used with Jojoba oil - all my research shows that continous use of Jojoba is beneficial in hair growth.

I was looking at another board and they referenced the same recipe.
The only problem is the Rosemary I was wondering if Ylang Ylang would be an adequate replacement for the Rosemary?

Thanks for the tip - I will use Castor Oil for detangling but will add a bit of d-panthenol to the mix too.

Sure...Ylang Ylang can replace the rosemary...but I'd add some peppermint EO in there too for extra scalp stimulation though. I haven't used Ylang Ylang, but I've read that's good for hair growth also.

MsCurly85--you can purchase the ingredients at any health food store or places on the internet like www.fromnaturewithlove.com. Some items like glycerin and grapeseed oil can be purchased at the grocery store also. Hope this helps!

You know what..don't expect a quick cure and I don't think you need to spend money on a variety of products.

    1. Don't stress over it....just don't even think about it.

    2. Use diluted SLS shampoo...or even Dr. Bronner's Shampoo, dime size diluted in water.---Once a week.

    3. Massage at night with coconut oil, whole head, not only sides.

    4. Eat healthy.

    5. Wrap your head in satin at night.

    6. Most of all...TIME! TIME! TIME!

Now your done. Take your time.. So far as you can see you only pretty much only need to buy coconut oil if you don't have it. And your done. Don't worry about it..and I don't think there's a need to buy different things...that promise much. Most products are placebos in their promises anyway.

Usually I've seen it as a regular store brand-type of thing, like with alcohol or peroxide...I know at Albertson's it's a store brand. I've also seen a particular brand at Walmart--it was rosewater glycerin I think. I don't remember the brand name though, but it was in the section where all the medicines were...
