try blue star ointment. most pharmacies sell it.

it's some miracle "snake oil" that cures a lot of skin disorders. some swear that it's the only OTC medicine that can quickly clear up ringworm.

just curious, but how did you catch that? I remember seeing it when i was younger and it freaked me out. everybody was itching, all the kids where i used to play had it. Even all my friends had it but I never caught it (thank god)

I'm itching just thinking about it. sorry

I'm not entirely sure, but I started itching after i went to Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom last summer or at the movies in the summer while wearing shorts. I didn't think much of it, then went to the doctor a couple of weeks later because I saw the ring and thought it was Lyme's Disease. He told me he thought it was ringworm because of the itching, etc. So I tried Lotrimin and it didn't really do anything and I'm still itching 4 months later. I really want this gone.

Ringworm is a fungus that is highly "catchable" and thrives on moisture. So it makes sense that I got it at the water park and while my skin was exposed.

He didn't prescribe you anything? He just told you you had ringworm and thats all? If you have had it this long, maybe its resistant to OTC drugs.

If none of the regimens above work for you, i suggest trying Lotrimin again --just make sure the active ingredient is clotrimazole. You only need to treat the infection for 7days. Apply it twice a day and wash your hands right after so you don't spread the infection to others/other parts of your body!

No, he just suggested I use Lotrimin or an equivalent. I just purchased Lamisil AT which is supposed to work in 7 days with one dose a day. I looked all ofver my CVS for the Bluestar Ointment and couldn't find it. If it's not gone by next Monday I'm going to see if he can't give me aprescription. I really hate taking medications though, because typically it's just poison that we are putting into our systems in the guise of wellness. However, if push comes to shove, then that's what I'll do.

Also, I've been applying teatree oil to it along with the Lamisil.

Soak several pennies in white vinegar overnight...apply one at a time to the area (it will burn a little) and keep them on until you run out of pennies...do this and in several days the ringworm will be gone (something about the copper and vinegar reacting together) HTH

My kids had it, they ended up having to take oral medication. They were resistant to all that OTC stuff. The longer you have it, the more resistant it seems to become. Careful it dosen't spread to your scalp....that's when it really goes crazy.

I say garlic. Cut a sliver and bandaid it onto the ringworm, for a few hours or overnight. You'll feel a tingle or slight burn. Take it off and you'll see the skin start to peel in a day or less.

Worked for me. And the only part that started to peel, was the ring worm it self. It cam off like a scab.

My son had it in his scalp, and he ended up having to take the oral meds, because after 3 months it wouldnt go away! It was so stubborn, i got it on my leg like two places, too. The topical worked for my leg, but the scalp was another story. He was in preschool at the time and he got it from there, its very contagious at first. I am fantical about his head now, years later.

Sounds strange, but Vitamin E oil worked great when my daughter had a "mysterious" case of ringworm last summer. I've also heard that taking Vitamin E tablets orally (I used it topically) can help it to go away faster, too.

Lotrimin Ultra works well for me. I'm a teacher and I have gotten it a few times from darling students. They share everything! LOL
