  • Do any of you guys use accessories on your TWA?

I wanted to jazz my TWA up a little and I bought a few hair accessories. I tried them on and asked my sister (certified fashion police that she is). I had a flower hair pin.....she said no. I head a black headband with a small black flower....she said no. Do you guys have any suggestions or pics of accessories that you use with your TWA? I am very fashion challenged.

IMHO, accessories that look like they're supposed to hold back hair look odd on a TWA. But that's just me. I prefer accessories that look like they're supposed to just adorn your head. That said, I might be in the minority on that view.

Those feather headbands that are popular now might be an option. Or a flower you can pin in there (if you're a flower-type girl).

I LOVE accessories! I have all kinds of headbands and flowers and feathers. I get compliments on them all of the time, but I personally could care less if I never did. You have to do what works for you. Good luck.

I wear hair clips, and clip in flowers. I wish I had more, I'd looove to have some of those feather clip on extensions.

I'm with ms-gg.. Jazz up your TWA the way you want it. It's about what you like.

    We're a minority of two...

Just for kicks I put a headband on my TWA the other day and it looked really dumb. Now, that said, I could see putting three metallic elastic headbands in a fan pattern across the crown of my head. That would look more like a style (to me).

Too bad hats aren't as popular for daily wear as they used to be...I could see some really cute mini-hats (I forget the actual name; they go on one side or quarter of your head?) working with TWAs. Also, since I'm fantasizing, I think headdresses would be REALLY cool...

I like accesories! But sadly, I don't wear them enough! LOL!
Forever XXI (forever 21) has some very very cute and sassy hair accesories that I think are nice for twas (and hair of all lengths to be honest).

I've never had a true TWA because I transitioned for 8 months before the big chop.
I like bobby-pin accessories and headbands. But I say, be careful with headbands, because some of them can be a little rough on your edges. Pick safe headbands. lol

I'm with spinsterella. I've put headbands in my hair only to immediately take them out. When I have more hair to hold back, I'll wear them then. I can't wait to dress up my fro!

I no longer have a TWA but I'm a sucker for hair candy. I'm rarely caught with "bare hair." In the spring and summer early fall, ignore your sister and use clip on flowers. The key is to use the right size flowers. Huge flowers will over-power your hair and not look cute. Use smaller ones in colors that can be found in nature and compliment whatever outfit you are wearing. In the late fall and winter use jeweled combs, clips and barrettes.

Also, scarves worn as head bands can REALLY work with a TWA. One great look is to get a long rectangular scarf that compliments your outfit and fold it narrow. Tie it around your head and let the ends hang over your shoulder. Uber chic!

I just bought a whole bunch of hair acessories this weekend. I think the right clip, pin, feather, or flower can be nice to add a lil something special to the TWA. I am almost out of TWA range, but I just now found some really cute things to add to my hair. I am not a flower type of girl but I did see some cute sparkley bows and some nice beaded bobby pins that would work for my hair.

Like her right here, she inspired me to rock one of my headbands like her when I had a ceasar last year.

What you had a ceasar???? Your hair is gorgeous in your avatar!!! Not like you have to explain your choices, but why did you cut your hair???

    LOL

In a nutshell, too much protein damaged my coarse hair. I never really took the time out to learn the art of protein/moisture balance and my hair can't handle most proteins.

Thanks for the love, its a throwback picture.

Right now hair is a little longer than a TWA but for my TWA I wore : hard headbands, hair combs, adorned hairpins, parted hair on the side...if you are handy, twist or cornrow a braid from ear to ear in the front and hide pin in the rest of the hair. I figured I was too old for the flower but I would have rocked that too. Is your sis natural? And is she aware of how we rock our hair? Just a thought. Have fun with it because its a phase and soon you'll be dealing with a whole new issue with that hair.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who felt this way. I'm 3 months natural and have never worn anything in my twa. It always looks odd to me. However, I think it looks great on others. I'm also looking forward to some length so that I can sport some accessories....

I can get with that, b/c it's about the flower, not the hair.

Sometimes, you gotta ask yourself: WWOD (What would Ongina Do?)

I already been throwing accessories in my fro. However I hook it up, and it looks good to ME, is how im going to rock it!! Its like clothes, it not what you wear but the attitude behind how you wear it.

OMG...I was totally thinking about Ongina when I first read this thread! She had that cute little bowler hat on one of the early episodes...I'd never have the nerve but it looked so cute on her!

Hey, LBellatrix - I think those small hats you were talking about might be called "half hats." I think that for most of them, you prob have to be rocking a vintage look, though. I don't know. Now you've got me curious, since regular hats don't work on me (my head isn't too big, it's just not shaped well for hats). Hmmm.
