  • Did Your Looks Change During Adolescence

I read this topic on another board and thought it was funny so I thought I'd post here. Unfortunately, I am one that looked absolutely horrible during adolescence. I can't stand people that were cute and perfect during their adolescence. lol. My looks changed drastically. I was wayyyyyy too skinny--I was nothing but all arms and legs. I mean, I was literally nothing but all arms and legs. And, my nose got too big for my face and my face was gaunt looking. By the time I was in 9th grade my look started changing for the better. By 9th grade my appearance was becoming consistent with my baby and childhood looks and features. I definitely was one that had to grow into my face. It's weird though. When I was an adolescent, I looked nothing like my childhood pics and the way I look now. Did anybody else go through an awkward stage? Or were you one of those people that didn't change much.

Oh mi-gosh. Around the age of ten years old, I got this rash type thing on my forehead (acne) and it just didn't go with my little lace dresses and beads and braids. I just felt unsure about myself around that time... you know when nature forces you to transition before you are ready.

I did not change at all during adolescence. I've been the same height (5'2) and weight since 7th grade. I still get carded when I go places (like to buy an R rated movie) even though I am 19. I guess puberty skipped over me :-(

I think my looks have changed substantially. My eyes and nose have changed. The doctors I had as baby still recognize who I am, so I guess I haven't changed that much. It's crazy how people can still recognize me after 19 years, and I'm only 20 years old.

My sister and I both went through this stage. But we were on opposite ends of the spectrum. She was tall and gangly and was very awkward. I ended up BLOWING UP - I gained a lot of weight, I didn't know how to dress or style my hair properly and I just plain wasn't the cute kid anymore. Thank goodness both of us grew out of it. I just thought it was part of growing up for some people...

I have been 5'7 since i was 12,and at 13 i developed butt, hips and breasts.I was embarrased at first because here i was 5'7,120 lbs with this big ol butt and big ol boobs!!!!! I went through a ugly duckling stage 6-7th grade , and then in 8th grade i started getting noticed by guys and became one of the popular girls.

my skin was flawless til the 4th grade and from then til the 9th grade my school pics were AWFUL! My skin cleared up and they started making decent looking frames so I didn't have to look like Roger Thomas. ...high school was good to me, but jr high....bleh!! ^_^
