I bought a cermic curling iron for like 20 bucks at sallys. I only used it once after a week of dealing with trying to keep my hair straight and avoid water I remebered why I hated having a perm. But I will say that it got my hair pretty straight and I didnt have to comb through my curls. Plus there was no bad fry smell. It was better than a pressing comb and a flat iron. But I dont know if it was worth it since I only used it once.

I bought a ceramic iron from Sally's last year. Mine is the cheap kind that plugs in the wall and has a dial to regulate the amount of heat.

I got the same results as a regular iron but not that smell you would normally get. Mine just lasted a couple days 'cuz I was working out at the time.

There is a big post-it on the top of the hair section and numerous threads within the hair section, where you been Cee? Although the search feature is not working, it would probably avoid some potential mess to just look at previous threads within the past few months re: ceramic flat irons. They aren't hard to find and people go on at length about how great they are, the price and so forth.

i use a regular temperature-control 1.5" barrel electric curler to straighten my hair out and curl it. granted, it doesn't get bone straight, but straight enough. and i smooth shea butter into my hair before straightening it.

I probably have the same one that others have from Sally's. Even though ceramics may be safer than combs, you still need to be careful with the heat.

I bought the jilbere ceramic from Sally's for like $40. I recommend it. You can control the temp and it doesn't snag your hair like curling irons can. Another suggestion is rollersetting, less heat and some say gives the same result.

LaLa had a question so some of us answered. I haven't straightened my hair since last year yet I did notice a difference in the ceramic vs. traditional hair iron.

on that same note, wouldn't it have been less taxing on you to have avoided this topic altogether, since the mere wording of straightening devices obviously makes you upset?

I am a teacher and counselor by trade, so it's quite easy and enjoyable for me to spread the knowledge. The simple truth just doesn't dawn on some people. They need help.

    I agree with this.
