Does anyone have any book suggestions for beginning kitchen chemists? I'm looking for a comprehensive book(s) that will have definitions, how-tos, explanation of herbs/EO, etc. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

One that I found was good is Better Basics for the Home by Anne Berthold Bond. It covers everything from cleaning your house, facial masks, lotions, hair rinses, to pest control (naturally). She discusses herbs, e oils and their use for different needs you have. See if they have it in your local library before purchasing. Just in case you don't like it.

I have found the followng to be very helpful for creating my own shampoos, hair rinses, hair oils, body lotions/creams, facial cleansers, etc.:

The Herbal Home Spa by Greta Breedlove

Earthly Bodies & Heavenly Hair by Dina Falconi

Herbs for Natural Beauty by Rosemary Gladstar

Naturally Healthy Hair by Mary Beth Janssen

    Organic Beauty by Josephine Fairley

I bought all of these books from Amazon.com (some new, some used).
