  • Anorexia/bulimia Is Cool.

For a lot of people, eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia are a sign of deeper problems, often a history of sexual abuse.

The other part of it is that we live in a society that highly values thinness, but most of us aren't thin either because of eating habits or genetics. So people are constantly bombarded with the ideal of a thin body, but they don't realize that it's an unrealistic goal. Unless you constantly diet or exercise, which these folks do compulsively, you can't possibly remain rail-thin.

That said, the one thing you can't accuse me of is being anorexic!

I've worked in a hospice, seen people dying and die of cancer. I've also worked in various hospital units and have seen suffering people who had organ transplants, liver failure, severe diabetes. I've also worked on mental health units and I've seen what real mental disorder looks like. They have my deepest sympathy.

But when I see someone creating a website to gloat about having anorexia, ( and put down normal sized ppl as fat), I don't feel sorry for them. Not one bit. If they're looking for some sympathy, they can look between sh!t and syphillis in the dictionary.

I just wanted to add that-

A lot of people with eating disorders just don't have anoerxia/mia(binge eating with some type of purging-whether through exercise, throwing up,fasting).. a lot are COE/binge eating(without purging) .. infact i think overeating is actually widely accepted.. I see people directly/indirecly encourging people to eat more and a lot. Theres food based festivals,buffets/all you can eat, fast food chains..etc. In a way thats saying THATS cool. People tend to forget that most people die from overeating and complications from obesity then people who strave themseleves.

^^ I admit I at times overeat. I eat till I'm full. I like to eat.... alot! I like being full, I'd rather be full than content. Is there something wrong with that? As I type this I'm content but I could still eat something- I'm hungry. (I know experts reccomend you eat until you're content, but I've never eaten like that. )

Would I be classified as having an eating disorder? (It's not like I force myself to eat...)

i don't think you've got an eating disorder, but i do think you're teaching yourself bad eating habits. habits that might mess you up once you get older (think your twenties). don't get me wrong, MotherLand, but you're still a growing girl (young woman ) so your metabolism and what not are not stable, you're still growing. but later...

it's better to start now eating what you need and what you want is cool too (serving wise). don't keep eating just because you want the "taste." i've read that it takes about 15 minutes before your brain realizes you're full. that's a long time to be eating unnecessary food.

i've actually gone back to eating kid's meals (happy meals, mighty kids meals, regular cheese burgers, small fries, kids size drinks, nuggets) and i'm never hungry afterward. not to mention after eating junk like mickey d's i'm glad i didn't eat a huge portion. and i really can't eat *a whole lot* anyway. i got to buffets and just eat one plate, maybe seconds and i'm DONE. most times, not even dessert.

there's nothing wrong with loving food and enjoying eating, but don't set yourself up for problems later.

i don't know whether to write this, cos it might be a technique, but if you chew things and then spit them out. Is that an eating disorder?

    I would think so.
Being that one would be spiting the food out to avoid gaining weight by swallowing it.
