    Hello Ladies,

I am in my second week of being all natural and I am really begining to LOVE the new me, my hair is really trying to take shape....but after I condish rinse or do a deep condish (1 hour plus with Cantu shea butter condish & Queen Helen's cholesterol) my hair is so soft BUT when it drys it is hard and dry, Is there a lotion, moisturizer or leave-in conditioner that really adds moisture and softeness to our hair?? Something that I can add to my hair as it is drying to keep it soft, moist and shiny..I would appreciate any suggestions

Castor Oil or Shea Butter worked for me as far as sealing in moisture.

From the two products you listed, it sounds like the reason your hair is hard is product build up.

Cantu shea butter conditioner has cones in it meaning that the product coats the hair and is not easily rinsed out. Cholesterol products are protein rich and are used to strengthen weakened hair strands, too much protein can make healthy natural hair feel wiry and inelastic.

Try using a clarifying shampoo followed by a moisturizing conditioner. Also try to limit use of the cholesterol to once or twice a month.

I just BC'ed as well. I have found that hair mayonnaise works for me. I actually put it on my dry hair and let it soak in for at least 20 minutes. Then I risnse it out with cool water (just like a regular co-wash) If my hair is feeling extra dry I leave a litte conditioner in my hair. This "conditioner on dry hair" method has helped my dry hair a lot! Maybe it can help you too! Good Luck

Hey there New Nap!! Ican only tell you what workd for me!......When I deep condition my hair I use leave the condition on my hair over night by using a plastic shower cap and over it I put a scarf on to lock in the moisture....Then I rinise it out in the morning...afterwards while my hair is still wet I plait my hair into about 20 braids and wait until it dries....afterwards after it dries I use cultures moisturaide and braid my plaits back up! Then wehnever Im ready to go out I take them down and it levaes my hair feeling really soft! ............If you plan on keeping an afro...you should plait your hair up every night and add moisture and maybe even oil....GOOD LUCK!...Oh and remeber find products that workd for your hair.......some products that work for me wont work for you....trial and era have to take place before you can know what your hair likes and doesnt like!

Shea butter is always a good option for lasting moisture.

When I big chopped (both times), the thing that worked best for me was good old-fashioned "grease and water". And I'm not talking about petrolatum-based grease, but rather an oil-based one. If you decide to take this route, you can't go overboard with the grease, either. Keep it light!

BTW, my routine for a while was to wash and condition with Dove shampoo (yes, shampoo) and conditioner and then follow up with Barry Fletcher's GREASE, mixed with Shea Butter. Worked wonders!

    I wonder why I stopped? <_<

You are the 2nd person to recommend the hair mayonnaise...

I have found that Africa's Best Hair Mayonnaise works for my hair. I usually buy it in wal-mart or walgreens. I hope this helps

For me I have feel in love with shealoe. I can make it myself and buy the ingredients. I love it. I use it after I deep condition. I leave the deep conditioner over night in my head secured with a plastic cap and a headscarf. Wash it out in the morning and use my shealoe. Love it
