  • Adolescent/ Teenagers Come On Down!

I am almost 5 months and some of my baby locks are exhibiting behaviors like teens. I have 3 locks right in the top of my head that stick staight up just cause they want to. (Mama Rasta you were right!)

I have some sealed ends but it would be cool if some sealed and some didn't. I think I like the more organic look. So far things are going well though. Its such a joy to have this site as reference.

Just turned 9 months Saturday! No unraveling... that stopped at month 3 and that was only the nape and temple locs. The nape row of locs have sealed ends and there are a few more to be found as you travel up from there. The braid pattern is just about gone from most in the back except for a few in this one particular row which I lovingly refer to as "rebels". The front however is a slightly looser texture than the back so a few more still have the braid pattern.

I believe that I have graduated from the baby stage to the teenage stage; 5 months Friday. Tons of budding, little balls at the ends, and they're chewy looking. They also do what they want, but have gotten a little weight, so they're not quite as wild as they once were.

8th month now, the ones at the back are all sealed at the ends with no twist patterns anymore. the front and middle are not as 'formed' yet; they've still got scraggly ends! And there's one in the middle that likes to stand up straight!

They do get extremely frizzy but I've given up twisting them every six weeks,I just twist a few of the ones at the top if they're getting out of hand. I like them a bit frizzy, to be honest.

I wash them roughly ten days and 'condition' with coconut oil or Anita Grant Manoi de Tahiti (smells lovely!) Every other day I give them a little spray with water to give them body if they look a bit sad and roughly every three days apply a concoction of Wild Growth oil, rosemary EO and jojoba. Occasionally I'll substitute these for lavender with a hint of vanilla.

It took me a while to get that regime sorted and I try to curb my desire for new products, I'm an addict! Less is definitely more, tho' and I only use teensy bits of the oils I've mentioned. My locs love water, tho', I don't skimp on that!

I can't wait for them to grow- come on!!
